In addition to continuing to introduce you to more of Jenny's "Magic Tips, Tricks and Techniques" by completing squares based on her Heritage book during club, we will be re-visiting some of her tried and true techniques by repeating some of the blocks. Jenny Haskins has been recognized for years for her beautiful quilts and gorgeous embroidery designs. Our Jenny Haskins Heritage Club is for those of you who would like to learn to do Jenny’s techniques from her book, Jenny’s Heritage. The book is filled with spectacular techniques, including 16 pillows and other projects. Jenny’s Heritage includes the CD that contains the 47 designs needed to make the quilt and the 16 projects. The CD alone is worth the cost of the book. The instructor for the Jenny Haskins Heritage Club will be Kat Emmelkamp. She will be presenting new techniques and/or a new block from the book every month. Most of these will not only be technique/project specific, but the finished blocks could be made into a quilt or other smaller projects. For most months, a kit will be available for purchase prior to each month’s club meeting. You just need to bring your sewing/embroidery machine (as you may be doing both sewing and embroidery) and thread. A specific supply list will be provided at the front counter or it will be within each month’s kit. For our MARCH and APRIL (SATURDAY – AM & PM) meetings we will be completing a Layered Fabric Etching project. In March we will be creating some beautiful objects to be placed on the block in April. We will embroider some three-dimensional decoupage embroideries, create some thread-play pieces, and stitch some no-stress free-motion elements (no worries, you will not be able to see the free-motion stitching especially after we wash away the water soluble stabilizer). Please pick up a Supply List at the front counter when you sign up for the Club. Those of you who may not be in town in April, the instructor will be demonstrating the techniques during the March class meeting on putting the block together. For our MARCH (THURSDAY) project we will repeat Pillow 3. Some of the basic techniques explored in this meeting will b e making a double-sided frill trim and embroidering on velvet-like plush fabric. So please bring your embroidery machine in embroidering mode. A kit is available, please pick one up PRIOR to your class meeting as there is PRE-CLASS PREPARATION to be completed. For our APRIL (THURSDAY) project we will learn how to join our blocks together now that you have several of them completed. We will review the “Embroidery and Embroidered Appliqué Découpage (non-washable)” technique, plus practice placement of embroidery designs when hooping. A kit is available, please pick one up PRIOR to your class meeting as there is PRE-CLASS PREPARATION to be completed. Time permitting, the instructor will share with students the technique of embroidering on leather during one of your March or April meetings. Space is limited, so please register early!
