Digitize a redwork design then transform it by adding fringe, motif decorations and pompoms! We will embroider the design onto a muffler included in the class fee.

Bring the createRedworkUmbrella.edo file that you created in a previous POM class so that we can add to our digitizing experience. If you no longer have the above edo file or did not take the createRedworkUmbrella class, the instructor will provide you with the createRedworkUmbrella.edo file :)

Bring your laptop (in good working condition) with Premier+ Embroidery Software installed, and bring a MOUSE for ease of use. Bring a USB “stick” to class if you wish to transfer files to and from different locations. Please REMEMBER to BRING your DONGLE.

All Machine Brands are welcome! If you are a non-owner but wish to view a demo of the remarkable Premier+ Software packages please contact the instructor by email. If you need help with installing your software, please contact the instructor several days in advance so that an installation meeting can be set up prior to class.

Supplies to BRING to Class:
A project muffler is included in the class fee.
Required Hoop
– You will need to use a hoop that is at least 300mm tall for this project.
Washaway Stabilizer – a mesh-type Washaway stabilizer such as Floriani Wet N Gone Water Soluble Stabilizer. This piece of stabilizer needs to be at least ONE-inch wider on each side than the hoop you are using. Bring two pieces of this stabilizer just in case your design needs extra support.
40-wt Poly or Rayon Embroidery Threads – you will need several thread colors (3 to 5). A color for the umbrellas and handles, one color for the fringe and décor and one for the pompoms. Bring more colors if you wish to stitch each of your umbrellas/parasols in a different color.
Bobbin Threads – You can either wind your own bobbin with 60-wt bobbin thread, or you can bring a (FULL) pre-wound embroidery bobbin for your machine. Keep in mind that the underside of your muffler will show, therefore you may choose to use matching bobbin thread.
Embroidery Needles – a 75/11 size needle that your machine prefers.
Basic Sewing Kit – long sharp pins, GOOD scissors, thread scissors, rulers, rotary cutter, fabric markers, Clover Wonder Clips, etc.
Sewing/Embroidery Machine in good working condition and all necessary accessories for sewing and embroidering, such as power cords, foot control, correct bobbin casing, extra bobbins (filled and empty), etc. Plus the Machine Manual just in case we need to refer to it to change settings.
The Embroidery Arm & Foot for your machine.
Metal Clips and Plastic Grid Template for your hoop IF you have them.
A Pressing Cloth or just a piece of light-color cotton fabric or muslin for pressing purposes.
Adhesive Spray such as KK2000 or blue painter’s tape or pink Floriani tape.
Bring lunch or snacks so that we can sew the entire day.
