Description:
CREATE YOUR OWN MOTIFS USING PREMIER+ ULTRA
Cost: $20 plus supplies (fee includes the pattern, software handouts, and construction handouts)
Date: Saturday Sept 23, 2017 in MAIN Building
Time: 10am to 4:00pm (approximately)
Instructor: Kat Emmelkamp

Create your own motifs for any use! Combine existing motifs to form your own or create from scratch such as using a drawing for a background. The embroidered fabric can be quilted with or without batting. Imitate long-arm quilting with continuous stitching of motifs!! We will create a padded container with the quilted fabric during class.

All Machine Brands are welcome! Bring your machine and we will embroider the design you have created. It’s OK if you’d rather stitch out the design at home than bringing your machine to class – your choice!

This class is for Premier+ Embroidery Software owners (with any embroidery machine that has a large-size hoop). If you do not own the Premier+ software but wish to participate in making this project, you may enroll in the class and the instructor will provide you with the design!

The best way to learn how to use your software is to use it. We will continue to “quilt” in the hoop and make a quilted multi-purpose padded pouch with the quilted fabric! We will use the Premier+ Create module and compare it to the previous class using Wizard in Premier+ Embroidery!

Supplies: Your laptop (in good working condition) with Premier+ Ultra Embroidery Software installed, and bring a MOUSE for ease of use. Bring a 1GB or 2GB USB “stick” to class so that we can transfer files to and from your machine
. Please REMEMBER to BRING your DONGLE :)

Muslin - this piece needs to be at least ONE-inch wider on each side than the HOOP you are using.
ONE 10 1/2”X15” piece of good-quality cotton Exterior fabric.
ONE 10 1/2”X15” piece of good-quality cotton Lining fabric.
ONE piece of the light-weight batting such as Pellon 987F Fusible Fleece the same size as the Exterior fabric.
Plastic Zipper - you will need to bring a zipper that is at least 14” with plastic teeth (not metal).

40-wt Poly Embroidery Threads or Quilting Thread – polyester embroidery thread can be used with a pre-wound bobbin OR Quilting thread – such as Superior King Tut (cotton) or Superior Sew Fine (polyester). Any color of your choice to match (for a more subtle effect) or contrast your exterior fabric. (I used a matching thread color for a tone-on-tone effect.)
Bobbin Threads – You can either wind your own bobbin with matching top thread OR use 60-wt pre wound bobbin thread if using embroidery thread.
Sewing Threads – I suggest a thread color to match the color of the exterior fabric.
Embroidery Needles & Sewing Needles – a 80/12 or 90/14 size needle that your machine prefers.
Basic Sewing Kit – long sharp pins, GOOD scissors, thread scissors, rulers, rotary cutter, fabric markers, Clover Wonder Clips, etc.
Sewing/Embroidery Machine in good working condition and all necessary accessories for sewing and embroidering, such as power cords, foot control, correct bobbin casing, extra bobbins (filled and empty), etc. Plus the Machine Manual just in case we need to refer to it to change settings.
The Embroidery Arm & Foot for your machine.
Required Hoop – You will need to use a hoop that is at least 300mm tall for this project.
Your own Iron and Pad will definitely save you time in not having to wait.
A Pressing Cloth or just a piece of light-color cotton fabric or muslin for pressing purposes.
Adhesive Spray such as KK2000.
10" of 3/8” or 1/2” grosgrain ribbon.
Pinking shears or a rotary cutter with a pinking blade.
Machine feet – standard feet for your machine, an open-toe foot and a zipper foot.

Bring lunch or snacks so that we can sew the entire day.
